Biography

Using raw clay as her canvas, Montana native Eloise Oviatt creates designs that enhance any type of interior surroundings. Eloise graduated in 1971 from Montana State University, in Bozeman, Montana, with a B.A. in Art Education. After experimenting with a variety of techniques and mediums, handmade stoneware tile became her passion. In 1982, Eloise Studio was started in the basement of her home.

Eloise has developed her expertise in tile making through 30 years of experience and by furthering her education at art institutions, an apprenticeship with a professional tile maker, a sculptural tile workshop in Italy, and coursework in metals at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. She also draws inspiration from the rugged landscape of her surroundings, a deep connection with nature, and a passion for travel. Her travels have exposed her to diverse landscapes and cultures which have greatly influenced the evolution of her work.

Eloise's work may be seen at numerous retail shops and interior design galleries throughout the U.S.
